Now and Future

This year has been quite a few ups and downs for me. I have the habit of changing my mobile phone due to the feeling of “freshness”. Aye, quite an expensive habit, I must add. My latest baby is Dopod 838Pro. I’m starting to like it a bit more even though there were initial problems I had encountered. I’m still hoping that the year 2007 would have more such gadgets to choose from. Which I believe have been announced. Cool  :D

Not everyone’s excited about the release of MS Vista. To me, MS products haven’t been exactly that fantastic until it’s all patched and updated. Usually takes at least 2 to 3 years to stabilise. By then, another version is up. Typical.

As usual, there’s the flurry of activities such as GoogleTalk launch, free spreadsheet by Google, viruses being discovered, etc. The most memorable for me would be the day my PC short-circuited itself. It was on until it fell down on its side, hard. My heart just broke. It was an accident that could have been prevented. By changing the chassis. I don’t want to change the chassis because my CD writer used to be ivory in colour (as you can see, I’m too busy about other things to clean it). The new chassis is blue. So, I bought the chassis because I like the colour and the USB drives in front. In addition, it has a cover door to hide the odd coloured CD writer with the new chassis.

The day it felled, it was switched on and the cover door was ajar. Some strength from the leg and whoom! It was down and out. I had to spend some money to change the mainboard. Thank God, it was only the mainboard. It just told me one thing, I have to either change the furniture or I change the position of the tower. I did neither because the one who put it down is now more careful.

As for the future, there will be more products fighting for our money and love. Sony may change it’s strategy in releasing games for Wii to encourage buyers. Microsoft may hold tournaments to promote XBox 360. Apple may release iPea that is so light and waffle thin that those who have iPods may dump theirs to buy it. iPea would be cloth-like so there’s no worries about it being scratched. It works on body heat and motion, thus, there’s no need to buy or recharge batteries.

Other interesting reflections and predictions for the coming year can be found here.

I believe that’s the kind of feeling! There’s not much you can do at the moment and yet you still wish something can be done :D
