I’ve been brainstorming for my domain name and boy, is it difficult. The one that I want is take. Even .net, .org, .com, .info, .at, .be, etc. T_T Depressing, right? I like it because it symbolises something to me. Unfortunately, got company already have it. So, I have to source for other domain names. Another way is to snatch an expiring domain name. I wonder.
Choosing the right domain name is really important because you’ll be stuck with it at least a year. Here’s the write-up on why. It’s also recommended why buying the same domain with different variations will prevent others from going to other sites than yours. The best part about Dreamhost is that it supports multiple domains. Local hosts, don’t. GAH!
My problem is that I want subdomains later and this domain will serve as a jumping board for the rest of my blogs. Now, I go see if I can go snatch some old domains.

Yeah, whatever good names you think of, it will probably be taken off (except for .edu/gov which you can’t get of course). ICANN is coming up with a few more extensions by end of year, but the majority still love either .com or .net. .info is quite cheap now, only S$2.50 if you buy through GoDaddy (which is quite a reputable for domain registration).
I am happy user of Dreamhost, and will continue to support them!

I’m planning to register with GoDaddy and then get the hosting plans from Dreamhost.
